Lansingburgh was first formed as the “Town + Borough of Stone Arabia” in 1771. Elizabethtown was surveyed as a district of the East Manor of Rensselaerwyck ca. 1788-1790. It corresponded essentially to what would become the Town of Troy in 1791, including what would later become the Village of Lansingburgh, the Town of Lansingburgh including Batestown, Middleburgh, the Village of Troy, and the Town of Brunswick.
