—Charles H. Chapman, a well known and highly respected resident of Upper Troy, died Saturday afternoon at his residence, 592 Fifth Avenue, after an illness of pleuro-pneumonia. The deceased was born in Wisconsin fifty-seven years ago and removed to this city when a boy. He took up his residence in Lansingburgh about twenty-five years ago. During the Civil War Mr. Chapman served in Company I, One Hundred and Twenty-first Regiment, New York Volunteers. He was a member of Jerusalem Lodge, F. and A. M., and at one time was also a member of the drill corps of the J. S. Fake Hook and Ladder Company. He always took an active interest in municipal affairs, and before Lansingburgh was annexed to Troy he served on the Village Board of Trustees for two consecutive terms. He was employed for thirty years at the paper boat factory of E. Waters & Son, and later established an upholstering business, from which he retired about two years ago. Mr. Chapman was genial in disposition and unassuming in manner, and always had a pleasant word when he met a friend or acquaintance. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Frances C. Ludden of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. William Hazer of Minneapolis, Minn. The funeral, which will take place to-morrow afternoon, will be in charge of Jerusalem Lodge, F. and A. M.
