Col. Johannes “John” Van Rensselaer was an early resident and officer of Lansingburgh, and the first named by the State of New York as one of the first Trustees of the Village of Lansingburgh in 1790 and he served as President of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Lansingburgh in 1794.

Lansingburgh’s Col. John Van Rensselaer was the nephew of the Colonel Johannes “John” Van Rensselaer (1708-1783) who lived at Fort Crailo.

Johannes [Van Rensselaer], born September 23, 1742, died June 23, 1802; a commissioned colonel in the revolution; married Frances Nicoll; no issue.

THE Dwelling House and Lot of Ground whereon the subscriber now lives, on the north-west corner of Hoosick-street [113th Street], in the village of Lansingburgh. The house is two stories high; fronts both River [First Avenue] and Hoosick streets; and, having a commanding prospect of the River, is one of the most pleasant situations in town.
Also, one half of a large adjoining Store House, three stories high, situated on River-street, and conveniently calculated for mercantile business.

One undivided half part of 21 lots, containing 100 acres each, in the town of Crown Point, in Essex county, within a patent granted to Pliny Moor.
Five lots of land situate in the late or present county of Montgomery, being lots No. 7, 8, 9, 10, & 11, containing 200 acres each, in a patent granted to John Maley, and bounded southwesterly by a tract of land known by the name of Jersey-field.
ALSO—900 acres in Robinson district, town of Woodford, Bennington county in the state of Vermont.
50 acres, part of lot No. 8, in the township of Hannibal, in the county of Onondaga.
ALSO—a water lot in Lansingburgh, situated on Water and Hosick streets, being 50 feet in front and in rear, and running down to Hudson’s river.
